Car Rust Repair & Welding in Tomball, TX
Rotted floors, rusty rockers or holes in the quarter panels? We cut out the rust and weld in new metal, on classics and everyday cars and trucks.
Rust Repair and Welding in Tomball
Rust doesn’t stop on its own. What starts as a bubble in the paint keeps eating the metal underneath until there’s a hole. Down here it’s less about road salt and more about humidity, old leaks and cars that sat for years.
We do a lot of rust removal and welding, especially body panel replacements on classics. That means cutting out the rotted metal and welding in new patch panels or full panels: floor pans, rocker panels, quarter panels, trunk pans, wheel wells, truck beds and frames.
Then we finish and paint it in the same shop, so the repair blends in. We do a lot of classic truck rust repair too, including old Dodge trucks and Power Wagons (see our Ram repair page). Where Is Your Car Rusting?
Rust repair depends on where it is and how deep it goes. Here’s what’s involved for the most common rust repairs we do.
Floor Pan Replacement
Floor pans rust from the inside out: wet carpet, leaky window seals and cars that sat outside. Once you can see through the floor, the rusted pan gets cut out and a new one welded in.
How much does floor pan replacement cost?
It depends on whether it’s a patch, one side, or the full floor. Seats and carpet have to come out either way.
Can floor pans be replaced without welding?
Some patch panels can be bonded with panel adhesive, but for a floor that’s rotted through, we cut it out and weld in new metal.
Can a rusted trunk pan be replaced?
Trunk pans rust the same way, usually from a leaking trunk seal. Same fix: cut out and weld in.
Do replacement floor pans come in a kit?
Replacement pans exist for most popular classics. We fit and weld them so they line up with the body mounts.
Signs: Wet carpet · daylight through the floor · soft spots under the mats.
Rocker Panel Rust Repair
Rocker panels sit under the doors and hold water and dirt. They often look fine from the outside until they’re rotted through, and on many cars they’re part of the structure.
How much does rocker panel rust repair cost?
It depends on how much has to be cut out and whether the inner rocker is rusted too.
Can rocker panel rust be fixed without welding?
Cover-up panels hide the rust; they don’t stop it. A lasting fix means cutting out the rot and welding in new steel.
How do you fix rusted rocker panels?
Cut out the rusted section, weld in a new rocker or patch, seal it, then prime and paint.
Do newer trucks and SUVs get rocker panel rust?
Very common on trucks and SUVs too, not just classics.
Signs: Bubbling paint under the doors · holes along the bottom edge.
Quarter Panel Rust Repair
Rear quarter panels rust behind the wheels and along the bottom edge, where mud and water collect. Small spots get a patch panel; bad ones get a full or half quarter panel.
How much does quarter panel rust repair cost?
A patch costs less than a full quarter panel. Photos give us a good first idea.
Are there patch panels for quarter panel rust?
Patch panels exist for the lower quarter and wheel arch on most cars. They get welded in and blended.
Can wheel well rust be repaired?
Wheel arches are one of the most common rust spots. The rusted lip gets cut out and a new arch welded in.
Why does filler over rust come back?
Filler over rust looks fine for a few months, then bubbles again. Welding in new metal is what lasts.
Signs: Bubbles above the rear wheels · holes along the lower edge.
Frame Rust Repair
A rusted frame is a safety issue, not just a looks one. Rotted sections can be cut out and plated or replaced with new steel. If a frame is too far gone, we’ll tell you straight.
How much does frame rust repair cost?
It depends on how much of the frame is affected and where. Spring hangers and rear sections are common problem spots.
Where can I get frame rust repaired near Tomball?
Frame repair needs proper welding and measuring so everything lines up. It’s done in-house at our Tomball shop.
Can rust be removed from a car frame?
Surface rust can be cleaned off and coated. Rot through the metal needs cutting out and replacing.
Are there repair sections for a rusted frame?
Repair sections exist for many trucks. We weld them in and seal them against more rust.
Signs: Flaking or holes in the frame · rusted spring hangers · body sitting crooked.
Truck Bed Rust Repair
Truck beds rust where water sits: the floor, the corners and around the wheel wells. We cut out the rot and weld in new metal, or fit new bed sections.
How much does truck bed rust repair cost?
It depends on the bed and how much rust there is. Photos help us give you an idea.
Are there patch panels for truck bed rust?
Patch panels exist for the bed floor, corners and wheel wells on most popular trucks.
How is truck bed and fender rust repaired?
Fender and wheel well rust is cut out and replaced with new metal, then painted to match.
Rust repair for classic truck beds
Very common on C10, F-100 and other classic trucks. It’s part of most truck restorations we do.
Signs: Holes in the bed floor · rusty corners · bubbling over the rear wheels.
