NHTSA has logged hundreds of Jeep wobble complaints, mostly on solid-front-axle Wranglers. A settlement covered 2018–2020 Wrangler JL and 2020 Gladiator. Worn steering and suspension parts and bad lift installs all play a part.
Suspension repair ↗Some 2011–2013 Grand Cherokee and 2012–2013 Wrangler 3.6L V6s had valve wear in the left cylinder head, causing a misfire and a check engine light.
Check engine light ↗The 9-speed automatic in 2014–2015 Cherokee had harsh shifts, surging and recalls, including one for dropping into neutral. Rough shifting is worth checking early.
Transmission repair ↗A proposed class action alleges valve-train failures on Gen II 5.7L and 6.4L Hemis, including 2014–2022 Grand Cherokees. The sign is a ticking or knocking engine with misfires.
