EFI Conversions in Tomball, TX
Tired of a carb that won’t start right or runs rich? We convert classic cars and trucks to fuel injection, including Holley Sniper EFI.
Carb to EFI Conversion Near Houston
An EFI conversion swaps your carburetor for electronic fuel injection. The car starts easier hot or cold, idles smoother, handles Texas heat better and usually gets better gas mileage.
We do Holley Sniper and other EFI conversions on classic cars and trucks. Most of the work isn’t the throttle body itself: EFI needs a high-pressure fuel pump, the right fuel lines and return, clean wiring and a proper setup, or it won’t run right.
We also do fuel tank replacement, stainless exhaust and AN hose lines, and EFI for LS swaps. Looking for an EFI conversion near you in the Houston area? Call 936-661-2675 and tell us the car and the engine.
Carb to EFI: Which Setup Fits Your Car?
Carb to fuel injection can mean a few different setups. Here’s what each one is, what it costs you in extra parts, and who it suits.
Holley Sniper EFI
Holley Sniper is a throttle body EFI system that bolts on where a 4-barrel carburetor sits and tunes itself as you drive. It’s one of the most popular carb to EFI conversions for classic V8s.
What comes in a Holley Sniper EFI kit?
Kits come with the throttle body, ECU and sensors. Many also include a fuel pump, but the fuel system still has to be set up right.
What is Holley Sniper 2 EFI?
Sniper 2 is Holley’s newer version of the system. Same idea: bolt-on throttle body EFI with self-tuning.
What causes Holley Sniper EFI problems?
Most problems come down to install: fuel pressure, grounds, sensor placement and vacuum leaks. Done right, it runs well.
Holley Sniper vs FiTech: which is better?
Both are self-tuning throttle body EFI systems that replace a 4-barrel carb. We install Holley Sniper and set it up properly either way.
Good to know: Bolts onto a standard 4-barrel intake. Needs a high-pressure fuel supply.
Carb to EFI Conversion
Converting from carburetor to fuel injection is more than swapping the carb. EFI needs high fuel pressure, a return line or regulator, an oxygen sensor in the exhaust, power and ground wiring, and a clean setup.
How does a carburetor to fuel injection conversion work?
Throttle body EFI goes where the carb was. The fuel system, O2 sensor and wiring are the real work.
Fuel injection conversions for a Chevy 350
The small block Chevy 350 is one of the most common EFI conversions out there, and kits are easy to get.
Fuel injection conversions for a Ford 302
Ford 302s convert just as well. Same idea: throttle body, fuel system and wiring.
What should I plan before converting from carb to EFI?
Plan the fuel tank and pump first. Old tanks often have rust or debris that will clog EFI.
Good to know: Rusty old tank? We do fuel tank replacement in the same shop.
Throttle Body EFI
Throttle body EFI sprays fuel into the top of the intake, right where the carb used to be. It keeps the classic look under the hood and is the simplest way to get fuel injection on an older engine.
What are the best-known throttle body EFI systems?
Holley Sniper and FiTech are the best-known self-tuning throttle body systems.
Why is throttle body EFI the most common conversion?
It’s the most common EFI conversion on classics because the intake stays the same.
Throttle body vs multi-port fuel injection
Multi-port sprays fuel at each cylinder and is what modern engines use. Throttle body is simpler and cheaper to fit on a classic.
Can throttle body EFI handle boost?
Some systems support boost, but it needs a matched setup. We plan that with you.
Good to know: Looks like a carb, runs like fuel injection.
EFI Conversion Cost
The EFI kit is only part of the cost. The fuel system is the big variable: a new in-tank or inline pump, fuel lines, a return or regulator, and sometimes a new tank.
How much does a carb to EFI conversion cost?
It depends on the kit and the state of the fuel system. A clean tank and good lines keep it down.
Is the cheapest EFI conversion kit worth it?
The cheapest kit isn’t always the cheapest job. A good kit installed right saves you chasing problems later.
What does the labor on a fuel injection conversion cost?
Labor depends on the car and how the fuel system has to be routed.
How much does EFI add to an LS swap?
On an LS swap, EFI is already part of the engine, so the cost sits inside the swap.
Good to know: Call 936-661-2675 with the car, engine and current fuel setup for a real idea.
EFI vs Carburetor
A carburetor is simple and period-correct. EFI starts easier, idles smoother, handles heat and altitude changes on its own and usually gets better mileage. For a car you drive, EFI usually wins.
EFI vs carburetor: how do they differ?
EFI adjusts fuel all the time based on sensors. A carb is set once and stays that way until you adjust it.
Is EFI better than a carburetor?
For drivability, yes. For a show-correct restoration, keeping the carb can make more sense.
How does EFI handle Texas heat?
Carbs can struggle with hot starts and vapor lock in summer. EFI handles heat a lot better.
Can you go back to a carburetor?
Yes, a throttle body EFI can come off and a carb go back on, as long as the parts are kept.
Good to know: Keeping the carb? Our carburetor tune-ups keep it running right.

EFI Conversion Questions
What an EFI conversion is, what it costs and what else your car needs for it.
What is an EFI conversion?
It’s replacing a carburetor with electronic fuel injection. On classics it’s usually a throttle body EFI system, like Holley Sniper, that bolts on where the carb was.
Is converting to fuel injection worth it?
For a car you drive regularly, usually yes: easier starts, smoother idle, better drivability in heat and often better mileage. If the car is a show-correct restoration, you might keep the carb.
How much does an EFI conversion cost?
It depends on the EFI kit, and on whether the fuel system needs a new pump, lines or tank. Call 936-661-2675 with your car and engine and we’ll talk it through.
Do I need a new fuel pump for EFI?
Almost always. EFI runs at much higher fuel pressure than a carburetor, so the old mechanical pump won’t do. Most conversions get an in-tank or high-pressure inline pump.
Is Holley Sniper self-tuning?
Yes. Holley Sniper learns and adjusts its own fuel tune as you drive, after a basic setup. It still needs the right install and fuel supply to work well.
Do you install EFI on LS swaps?
Yes. EFI and wiring are part of most LS swaps we do.
Where can I get an EFI conversion near Houston?
At Brix Auto Group in Tomball, 27813 Calvert Rd, TX 77377. From downtown Houston it’s about 33 miles, usually 35 to 50 minutes via I-45, Beltway 8 and TX-249.
